What makes a quote higher
Size. Taller trees and thicker trunks take longer and produce more wood to haul.
Location. A tree hanging over the roof or wrapped around lines has to come down in small sections, often with ropes or a crane. The same tree in an open field might be dropped in one cut.
Access. Steep yards, narrow gates and long carries are common around Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain and the ridges. If a bucket truck or chipper can't reach the tree, the work takes longer.
Condition. Dead trees can be brittle and unpredictable to climb, which adds risk and sometimes requires extra equipment.
Extras. Stump grinding, hauling the logs, and urgent or after-hours work usually add to the total.
How to compare quotes
Make sure each quote covers the same things: cleanup, debris and log removal, and stump grinding. Ask whether the company carries liability insurance and workers' compensation, since an uninsured accident on your property can become your problem. A noticeably cheaper quote sometimes leaves out cleanup or insurance.
